How to choose a mask
Brookwood Med sells KN95, KF94 and 3-ply surgical masks in adult and kids' sizes, in small packs and in bulk. The right one depends on where you'll wear it and for how long.
What to look for
- Rating that matches the job. KN95 and KF94 are filtering respirator standards from China and South Korea; 3-ply surgical masks are looser and mainly block splashes and droplets. For crowded indoor spaces, a well-fitted KN95 or KF94 is usually the stronger choice.
- Fit first. A mask only filters the air that goes through it. Look for a moldable nose wire and a snug seal at the cheeks and chin, with no gaps when you breathe in.
- Size for the wearer. Kids' masks are cut smaller so they seal on smaller faces; an adult mask on a child leaves gaps.
- Comfort for long wear. Ear loops are easy to put on; check the loop tension if you wear masks for a full shift.
- Pack size and cost per mask. Bulk boxes lower the price per mask for caregivers, clinics and families.

Before you buy
Decide who the masks are for and how many you'll go through in a week. A household with school-age children may want one box of kids' KF94s and one of adult KN95s; a caregiver visiting several homes a day will get better value from a bulk box. Store spare masks in their sealed packaging somewhere clean and dry, and keep a few in the car or a bag so you're never without one.
